Ins & Outs // August 2024
newest stash editions, a couple heading to the finisher, and the stitch list!
Needlepoint can sometimes feel like a revolving door. You buy a canvas, you stitch the canvas, you send the canvas off, and it comes back to you. And the process goes on and on. I wanted to catalog the revolving door of needlepoint through the series I’m calling Ins & Outs, which quite literally captures what is coming in and what is going out. Today’s post will also include The Stitch List, which features appealing things that, for whatever reason, don’t apply to me, I don’t have time to stitch, or I like but haven’t purchased to stitch myself. Also, one more thing! Save the date for a Zoom stitch night on August 13th, 2024.
Ins
Sandra Gilmore Washington Square Park Photos can be deceiving; this is 10 inches round.
Jessica Tongel F*** around and Find out Bleeping for my lovely mother’s sake
Doolittle Stitchery Newport Travel Round I am stitching for my said lovely mother to commemorate our annual girl’s trip.
Outs
Hollywood Passport Stamp As a belt curse believer, this was the largest I would do for an anniversary gift. I was completely skeptical, so I stitched the anniversary date last just in case. And now my boyfriend is reading this… love you honey!!!
Lincoln Center After the tragic olive oil spill on the sky stitches in Nice, France, I was so excited to get this out of WIP hell (when a canvas has been a WIP for too long and you are tired of looking at it).
Ciao Canvas I've shared a detailed stitch guide for this piece on Substack; you can find it below.
The Stitch List
Delightful things that for whatever reason don’t apply to me, I don’t have time to stitch, or I like but haven’t purchased to stitch myself:
Alice Peterson Portugese Facade This could very easily be a lot of European countries, not just Portugal.
Sea Shells Set from Greystone and Ann Kaye Studio collab Somebody buy this while I'm in credit card jail! Also sold separately here, here, here and here.
Cape Cod Lobster I’ve never been to Cape Cod but this lobster is too cute!
ACK Quilt Squares If you’ve seen Calder Clark’s quilt TikToks, you’d also be obsessed with quilts (these would be cute coasters).
Mahjong Tiles Round I don’t play Mah Jong YET, but prepare to be sick of me when I do because I will be stitching nothing but tiles!
If you can’t Tone it, Tan it This piece would add such a charming touch to a pool house or bathroom.
Olipop Canvases I don’t drink soda but have many friends who love Olipop (@stitchingwithlillie I’m looking at you!).
Martini Drinking Elephant Belt A belt is a big project, and my dad would prefer a golf belt, but this is hysterical.
Soiree Monkey Party by Dana Gibson for Plum Stichery This one has so much personality!
Let me know what is on your personal “Ins & Outs” rotation in the comments!
See you in my next one,
The Le Point Christmas village. I love it but haven’t made any moves to purchase it. Too many other canvases to finish first plus the thought of paying for finishing these as stand ups 😬.
