It’s hard to put into words exactly what 2024 has meant for Bicoastal Stitches. This year brought some incredible milestones, and I wanted to take a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come.
This year marked my first full year of sharing my thoughts and creations on social media. On TikTok, my videos were viewed 606k times by 237k unique users—a milestone I could have never imagined when I started!

I completed my first true needlepoint canvas after taking a few months off after initially learning (more details on that in this post). I stitched rows and rows of continental (bless my heart). Looking back at this video, I can hardly believe how much I’ve grown—what a stitching baby I was! Funny enough, I later interviewed the designer of this very canvas for Substack:
I also posted my first-ever show and tell, and let me tell you—kindergarten classes can move over. Show-and-tells have become a core tenet of my content (despite what that video might have you believe I did not cut myself off, ha!).
Early in the year, I started the Needlepoint Get to Know Tag that circulated on TikTok. Back then, Needlepoint TikTok was such a small, tight-knit group. It’s been amazing to see the community grow and evolve with so many new faces joining along the way.
I partnered with some incredible brands for giveaways, including Lycette and Chapparal, and I received gifts and PR from designers I respect so much. Supporting and highlighting small businesses I love has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.
I went unexpectedly viral a few times this year, with videos featuring my NYC stitching room, bathroom door hanger, and even a $150 finishing bill for an ornament (yes, really).
Through all the fun, I hope I’ve also contributed positively to the needlepoint space by creating honest and helpful content. Some highlights include:
Showing the backs of my canvases (because transparency matters!)
A step-by-step row beading tutorial and vertical cross stitch beading tutorial
In May, I started posting on Instagram (definitely not my strongest platform—I need to catch up on grid photos!). Substack launched in August, which was a huge leap! I collaborated with Anne Fisher to create a master calendar of stitch retreats, which was such a fun project to bring to life.
I also participated in an ornament exchange, which inspired me to start my own!
My Stitching Journey: 2024 Stats
26 Projects Completed + 5 WIPs Still in Progress
22 on 18-mesh and 4 on 13-mesh
What I stitched:
17 ornaments: 3 are at the finisher, 2 were gifts, 10 are on my tree, and 2 still need to be sent off.
3 pillows: 1 lives in my NYC living room, 1 in my LA living room, and 1 is with the finisher.
2 door hangers: 1 was a gift for Mr. Mans, and the other is simply sentimental (she’s a little janky, as first projects usually are).
2 eyeglass cases: 1 was stitched as a Vday present then finished as a Christmas gift for Mr. Mans, and 1 still needs finishing.
1 hinged box: Currently with the finisher.
Total investment in canvases: $1,940 (not counting finishing, which I choose to pay with my eyes firmly shut).
I was curious to see which months were my most productive in 2024. It looks like March was especially busy—probably a big push to bail projects out of WIP purgatory!
What’s Next?
Looking ahead to 2025, I’m excited to expand Bicoastal Stitches, share more helpful content, and tackle some exciting secret projects. Stay tuned for a follow-up post where I’ll share my favorite projects of the year!
